Learn how to audition for this show, and audition LIVE!  You will be taught the callback songs and the callback dance routine, and you will get experience reading sides in front of the director. The third day of the workshop will include your in-person audition!
NOTE:  Thursday’s in-person auditions are available for Workshop attendees only.

AUDITION OPTION 2
IN PERSON AUDITION

In Person Auditions will be held Saturday, September 28, 9am -12pm.
 
Please be prepared for your In-person audition with the following:
• Headshot and Resume
• A 16-32 bar of a Musical Number and a short monologue or short story
• At the beginning of your audition, please state your name, age (if under 18), height, your song selection, and your monologue selection.

SHOW SYNOPSIS
described by MTI

Based on the popular comic strip by Harold Gray, Annie has become a worldwide phenomenon and was the winner of seven Tony Awards, including Best Musical. The beloved book and score by Tony Award winners, Thomas Meehan, Charles Strouse and Martin Charnin, features some of the greatest musical theatre hits ever written, including “Tomorrow.”

With equal measures of pluck and positivity, little orphan Annie charms everyone’s hearts despite a next-to-nothing start in 1930s New York City. She is determined to find the parents who abandoned her years ago on the doorstep of a New York City Orphanage that is run by the cruel, embittered Miss Hannigan. With the help of the other girls in the Orphanage, Annie escapes to the wondrous world of NYC. In adventure after fun-filled adventure, Annie foils Miss Hannigan’s evil machinations… and even befriends President Franklin Delano Roosevelt! She finds a new home and family in billionaire, Oliver Warbucks, his personal secretary, Grace Farrell, and a lovable mutt named Sandy.

 

CHARACTER BREAKDOWN

Actors of all races, ethnicities, sizes, abilities, and genders (conforming and non-conforming) are highly encouraged to audition.

Annie – A street-wise orphan; she is eventually taken in by Oliver Warbucks. Spunky, friendly, big-voiced.
Warbucks – A successful businessman with a warm heart. Rich, stiff-collared, bullish.
Grace Farrell – Faithful secretary to Mr. Oliver Warbucks. Poised, sweet, gentle.
Miss Hannigan – The orphanage matron who hates children but is fond of liquor. Very disillusioned, bitter, and cold.
Rooster – Miss Hannigan’s no-good brother looking for a quick buck. A sleazy, slick con man.
Lily – Rooster’s girlfriend, who is also out for a quick buck. She is considered to be a floozy and bimbo. She is named after the hotel.
Molly – The youngest of the orphans, and Annie’s best friend.
Kate – Another orphan, somewhat of a trouble maker. Has a fondness for wildlife outside the orphanage.
Tessie – An orphan close to Annie in age. A bit of a whiner, loves the phrase “Oh my goodness”.
 
Pepper – The toughest, and some may argue meanest, orphan in the orphanage.
July – A quiet orphan but tries to keep the peace.
Duffy – The oldest of the orphans, and the most mature.
Sandy – Woof. (Sandy will be a real dog! If you have a dog who looks like Sandy who could potentially play Sandy, please check the box! We will be holding Sandy auditions at a later date.)
Bert Healy – The ultimate radio personality. He helps Annie by broadcasting about the search for her birth parents.
Roosevelt – The 32nd President of the United States. A Democrat and friend of Warbucks.
Drake – Mr. Warbucks’ butler. Posh and ready to serve.
Ensemble – Including Servants (including Mrs. Greer, Mrs. Pugh, Cicille, Annette), Hooverville Citizens, NYC Citizens (including Star-To-Be), Boylan Sisters, Hour of Smiles Family, Cabinet Members
Orphan Ensemble – The other girls in the orphanage with Annie. These girls are gritty, neglected and vulnerable, yet basically honest and potentially loveable.
