All actors must submit a Google Audition Registration Form

Auditions will be held on Monday, December 4th at 6:00 pm at Desert Stages Theatre. Please sign up on our sign up genius HERE.

If you are unable to submit or are having issues with the Audition Form please contact DST at auditions@desertstages.org.

AUDITION INFORMATION:

No conflicts will be accepted during show dates or the week before opening.

Callbacks (by invitation only) will be on Tuesday, December 5th at 6:00pm at Desert Stages.

AUDITION PREP:

The director will provide all audition material at the auditions. Please be familiar with the play.

Please bring your head shot and resume to the in person audition.

REHEARSALS:
Rehearsals begin on Monday, December 11 at 6:00 pm. Along with submission, please indicate any conflicts you may have throughout the rehearsal schedule, which is Monday – Thursday from 6:00 pm – 10:00 pm and Saturday or Sunday afternoons

Show Dates: January 19 – February 4, 2024

Rehearsals will take place at Desert Stages Theatre.

NO CONFLICTS ALLOWED:
January 13 – January 18 (tech week) and show dates.

Your career as a writer is blossoming, your beautiful, young fiancee is waiting to get married and rush off to Cancun by your side – so what is your natural reaction? Well, if you’re a man, it’s probably to get nervous ans start calling up old girlfriends.

And so begins a single man’s odyssey through four hotel rooms as he flies across the country in search of the perfect woman (whom he’s already broken up with).

In grand LaBute fashion, this by turns outrageously funny and a deadly serious portrait of the artist as a young seducer casts a truthful, hilarious light on a typical young American male as he wanders through the heart of darkness that is himself.

CHARACTER BREAKDOWN
Actors of all races, ethnicities, sizes, abilities, and genders (conforming and non-conforming) are highly encouraged to audition.

GUY (M/early or mid-30’s) – Engaged. English professor and writer. Blithely unaware, yet charming. A likable narcissist, a tad clueless, and looking for external validation that he is worthy of love.

SAM (F/30-40) – Married with children. Living in the past a little. Hoping for escape… rescue. Guy was her first boyfriend. She is a wife and mother and remembers things differently than he does.

TYLER (F/20-30) – Unattached and flirty. She is racy, uninhibited, and displays an excess of bravado. She’s relaxed in herself, in her identity; she’s a complete party girl and really okay with it.

LINDSAY (F/40-55) – Married. Strong, intelligent, woman seeking retribution. a kind of sophisticated, intelligent, university professor of gender studies. She is older than Guy. They had an affair while she was married.

REGGIE (F/30-40) – Younger sister of Guy’s best friend. Curious why Guy called her first and not his best friend. Clearly delineated he was old enough to know a lot more than she did. It is her where Guy answers some questions which have long haunted him.

BOBBI (F/30-40) – A doctor. A little cynical and very much in control. She dated Guy in College. She is suspicious and curious at the same time as to why he called.
